“Shame” is the right word to express the feelings of members of Albania’s Facebook community over what happened on Friday in Tirana, when a protest called by the opposition ended in violence in which three people died and dozens of others were wounded.
Facebook surfers recalled poetry about madness. Alongside them were accusations from various politically affiliated participants aimed at the parties’ respective leaders.

Tirana, 21 January 2011 (AENEWS) – Three victims of the last Friday violent protests were buried on Sunday in their respective towns while a fourth protester is in dire situation in the Military Hospital of Tirana. Medics give little hopes for his life.
In the mean time, the State Police seem to have practically ignored the six arrest orders issued by the prosecutors for six high officials of the Republican Guard, the military elite forces responsible for the protection of high officials.

The crowd of violent protesters approached in the inner gate on the northern façade of the government house while several protesters are reported wounded by rubber bullets used by law enforcement forces. The wrought iron fences build in 2004 on the order from the Socialist Prime Minister Fatos Nano in order to prevent popular assaults from then opposition of the today Prime Minister Sali Berisha, seems that failed to save the government house this time.

Thousand of protesters gathered by the opposition resisted today against the rain, water cannons and tear gas used by the police to disperse them in Albania capital Tirana, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister Sali Berisha accusing him for directing a corrupted government. The police seem that did not manage to disperse the crowd after one hour of violence while several cars were set in fire. Some of the protesters tried to storm the government house but they seem to not enjoy the support of the bulk of the crowd that continues to stay there.
