Tirana, Jan. 12, 2008 (AE) – The newly appointed Culture Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras, declared on Saturday that the solution for name row between Athens and Skopje will be “the dissolution of Macedonia, through absorption of parts of this country by Bulgaria and Albania.”
“Time is in our part”, he said in an interview for Greek Public Television ERT. “I believe that Skopje will not survive as a single country and that Greece have nothing to be afraid from the creation of ‘Great Albania’ and ‘Great Bulgaria’”.
Samaras is a nationalist hardliner. Greece blocked Macedonia’s integration in NATO on April 2007 and has threatened Skopje that will halt also its EU membership ambitions. Experts thinks that by blocking NATO and EU membership of Macedonia, Greece have worked effectively for the dissolution of this country, something seen as a major threat for political stability of whole region.
