Macedonia PM: “Name” Silence Echoes Nazi Era
The European Union’s silence over Greece’ veto to Macedonia’s NATO membership bid echoes the complacency of Europe to the agressive policies of Nazi Germany before World War Two, Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told local media.
Speaking to local media on Sunday, Gruevki referred to Athens blocking Skopje’s NATO invitation in April over the 17-year old dispute over Macedonia’s name, which the country shares with a northern Greek province.
“The silence over these kinds of blockades and vetoes reminds us of other times, when Czechoslovakia was annexed, when no European country gathered enough courage to firmly stand in the way of the then Nazi movement that turned into a monster afterwards,” Gruevski said in the capital Skopje.
“Today’s Greek conduct in the EU can become a rule for bad behaviour.”
Athens has indicated it will veto both NATO and European Union entry for Macedonia until the row is resolved, which in practice means asking Macedonia to pick a new name approved by its southern neighbour .
UN-led negotiations between Athens and Skopje have been held since Macedonia broke away from socialist Yugoslavia in 1991, but without success.
At the end of 2008 Skopje said it will sue Athens at the International Court of Justice in the Hague over the dispute, arguing that Greece previously signed a UN document agreeing to let Macedonia into international institutions under its provisional name Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia, and had broken that deal when it blocked the country’s NATO entry.

Europe has stayed silent, because Greece is firmly within its rights to block Skopje from the EU and NATO.
When Skopje stops violating the Interim Accords of 1995, when it puts an end to the hostile propaganda and claims on Greek history, then Greece will allow Skopje to join the EU and NATO. Unti lthen, enjoy life on the out skirts.

In high school I would ask Yugoslavia-slavic teens who were brain washed by their parents why they called themselves macedonians? I would then ask them if they were greek. With a confused look on their faces they said that they used a Yugoslavian passport. They also said that they were related to Alexander the great. I then told them to read some history books.
1) Alexander the Great was born in Pella which is located in the province of Macedonia in northern GREECE.
2) Slavs ( ethnic bulgarian/russians) did not show up in the FRYOM region until 6 centurys after Alexander the great.
3) Chech out youtube for a video clip from Yugoslavian TV ( Video footage that shocked FYROM) which has TITOV admitting to the world that his country is slavic and that they do not have any relation to Alexander the Great!

1) Pella was not “Greek” till 1913. 2200yrs after Alexander was born.
2) Slavs (not just Russians etc) migrated to the Balkans all the way to the southern tip of modern day greece. So therefore you are also “slavs” to a degree.
3) There is also a video of a historian, not a politician (!) that is called “The Clip that shocked Greece” on youtube.. That is where the facts are.

The historian you are referring to in that clip that “Shocked Greece” is the most renown archaelogist and historian on Macedonian history, Eugene Borza backs the Greek claims. Eugene Borza states the following and is not fully quoted:

The ancient Macedonians had more in common with the Hellenic world – language, culture, religion – than they had with the current slavo-bulgarian population that claims that they are Macedonian. This fact cannot be refuted. I am pretty sure Alexander the Great did not speak a bulgarian dialect, his name, the names of his kingdom – Phillipi, Thessaloniki, Perseopolis – are all Greek names. I also find it funny that Skopje wants to usurp the Star of Vergina as a national symbol. The 16 rays of the star stand for the 4 basic elements known at the ancient times – fire, water, wind, earth- and the 12 Olympian gods. Sounds more Greek to me than slavo-bulgarian.
Its about time the world finally brings this issue to an end by telling the government in FYROM that unless they stop attempting to steal another countries history. I can guarantee you that most of the officials from all the countries around the world who have recognized FYROM as RoM for political reasons only were taught at school that the Macedonians were a Greek tribe and spoke a dialect of the Greek language.
Having stated this, i will also ask the people of FYROM to stop accusing another country for its own shortcomings. It is obvious to them that their country may fall appart and want to set a image that Greece will be the cause for this. TAKE THE BLAME FOR YOUR INABILITIES AND STOP BLAMING SOMEBODY ELSE.
The thing which the citizens of FYROM can never answer is why have they never tried to seek independence from Yugoslavia all these years if they truly believed they were related to the ancient Macedons. They had no say in this or the previous federation of Serbia, Croatia & Slovenia because they were always considered as Slavs and related to the Slavic races. The origins of MOST of these people is Bulgarians who have been Slavenized over a period of time.
I fully agree with Prime Minister Gruevskis comment.EU and NATO are silent on Greeces vito on Macedonias membership in NATO and now they are threatening to veto the addmision to EU.In 1939 when the Nazis invaded Chehoslovakia, the world stood silent.When the Nazis were killing jews in Trblinka and Auswitz no one stood-up to them.Today, Greece is repeating the same taktic againts Macedonia and Macedonian minority in Northern Greece (Macedonia),and the world keeps silent. Macedonia a non-Nato member, is fighting terorists in Afganistan,keeps peace in Bosnia,and other NATO peace keeping,but NATO,does not stands up to Greece.Is this the democracy NATO and EU are talking about? What do FYROM nationals have in common with my ancestors other than spray painting “We are Macedonian” and “Gay-reeks” everywhere over the Internet? Where is there mention of a “Macedonian” demographic a hundred years ago?

I wonder if FYROM nationals had decided to call themselves ethnic Romans… would anyone have objected? Or how about if the Turks had decided to rename themselves ethnic Athenians? Would that be fine? How about if Syria renamed itself Greater Tel Aviv? Would that be kosher? How about if Mexicans renamed themselves “ethnic Texans” would Americans object?
What happened to international laws protecting state symbols… exactly so things like this don’t happen? And to fellow Nato members… what good is Nato if some of its members openly aid non-member nations trying to erase a member from history? You honestly think you can’t be next in line?
I never knew what bigotry felt like until the FYROM government and public started its campaign of trying to extinguish my ethnic identity to forge their own (along with all all the supremists around the world that feed off this stuff).
The problem here is not that anyone actually believes that the former Yugoslav state has anything to do with ancient Macedonians. The problem is that people expect Greeks to be Gods because of the some of the successes of our ancestors. That expectation is not our fault.
I am suddenly now expected to forget my ethnic identify that can trace its roots across millineia for a 17 year old country that only shows hate towards me? Is this what “human rights” means in the world today? Tolerate the hateful?
