Falcione, background information

Tirana, Dec. 9, 2008 (AENews) – Italian newspaper La Repubblica published a background information story on Falcione, the Italian company that won the permission from the Albanian government to build a 8 Billion Cubic Meter regasification plant on the Albanian coast and a gas pipeline to deliver gas to Italy.

Founded in 1955  Luigi Falcione, the company worked mainly in construction of public facilities in Italy, and extended its operations outside Italy after the collapse of communism. It has about 300 employees and an yearly turnover or Euro 150 million. It has signed an agreement with Sonatrach, the state owned Algerian oil and gas company, to buy gas and to sell it to Italy.

Falcione’s subsidiary Plogas S.r.l. delivers gas to 62  Italian municipalities and has about 21.000 clients. It sells 26 million cubic meters of gas yearly with 12 million Euro in revenues. The regasification plant in Albania will be build by Trans – European Energy B.V, its Albanian subsidiary.
