Government approves 2009 state budget

Tirana, Nov. 3, 2008 (AENews) – Albanian Government approved state budged for the 2009, projecting no increase in revenues and a increase of 3.7% in expenditures, data published today shows.

Total expenditures are projected to Lek 383.2Bn, (eur 3.14BN) while revenues are projected to Lek 333.2Bn, (eur 2.73BN). Deficit should not exceed 4.2% of GDP. Expenditures for wages are projected to be 15% lower then in 2008 while expenditures for the state run pension fund will be increased by 29%.

Government will spend also lek 30 BN (Eur 246 Mln) to finance Rreshen-Kalimash highway. Rreshen-Kalimash is the most expensive civil works project ever financed by Albanian state and aim to link Kosova with Albanian port of Durres. The project include a 5.3 km long tunnel and is expected to cost more than Eur 700 million.
