Bank of Albania keeps base interest rate unchanged
Banking & Finance, Economy Friday, October 31st, 2008Tirana, Oct. 31, 2008 (AENews) – Bank of Albania decided to keep unchanged the base interest rate in the country at 6.25%, concluding that inflation is under control and that supply side pressure is diminishing.
Consumer Price Index rise slowed to 2.7% in September 2008, within BoA target of 3%.
In an analysis for the third quarter of this year, BoA noted that trade deficit of the country had widened to Eur 1.63BN, while interest rates for loans and savings had been increased.
BoA changed its base interest rate for the last time in October 2007.
