Progress Report: Albania made no progress with regard to nuclear safety

Tirana, 12 November 2007 – Daily newspaper Shekulli quotes the European Commission’s
2007 Progress Report on Albania as saying that “no progress has been
made as regards to nuclear safety and radiation protection”.
Considerable efforts are still required for Albania to meet the
requirements of the Energy Community Treaty as regards transposition of
the acquis.” The daily also quotes an environmentalist expert, Sazan
Guri, as saying that the country would need at least ten years to
prepare for the nuclear plant.
