(AENews) Deputy Chairman of Democratic Party Bamir Topi, was elected today as Albania’s new
President. Mr. Topi received 85 votes out of 90 by an agreement between the
ruling coalition and six PM’s from the opposition Socialist Party. Inaugural
ceremony will be held on Monday, 24 July.

warned today, at a press conference, about the strong negative effect that
early elections might have on the economy. “We are experiencing a difficult

compromise about their nominee for the president of Albania, raising thus the
prospective for early parliamentary elections. After weeks of negotiations,
both parties have finally presented their candidates, but refused their opponent’s

Albania sent another 113 peacekeeping troops to Afghanistan, aimed to becoming
a useful country as it works at raising its prospective of becoming a NATO
