No guaranties for regular electricity supplies
Uncategorized Thursday, March 15th, 200715 March 2007 (AENews) – KESH's new director, Gjergj Bojaxhi, said in his
official presentation that he could not guarantee regular supply of electricity
during this year, but that it would depend on the metrological conditions
rather than his decision-making.
"We
depend on 70% of rains", Bojaxhi said in a press conference on Wednesday.
However, his biggest issues was the high level of loses. "Now we lose about
55% of the whole energy supplied", added he.
Just
a few hours before Bojaxhi's declaration, Prime Minister Sali Berisha had promised
regular electricity supply for the whole year 2007.
Albania’s
production levels are estimated at about 5 billion kW/h per year, while its
current consumption levels reach about 7 billion kW/h. Despite the ability to
import the other 2 billion kW/h, the country faces difficulties due to its
connectivity limitations with the regional market, and the inability to use
with adequate efficacy the domestic reserves.
