Government to privatize thermal power plants

(AENews) – Albanian government has decided to auction for privatization seven thermal power plants
under the "Albania 1 euro" initiative. Albanian thermal power plants
are situated in Tirana, Korca, Fieri, Cerriku, Kucova etc.

All of them except
the Fier plant, are out of commission since the collapse of communism.
"All of them but one are a mere waste", noted an expert in Tirana,
explaining that only Fier Thermal Power Plant would attract interest from
private capitals.
"Government
has created a list of seven public properties, aiming to hide its intention to
privatize Fieri Thermal Power plant, out of public scrutiny", according to
ABC daily.
