Albania issues first ever Euro denominated Bonds

Tirana, 22 Dec. 2006 (AENews) – Bank of Albania (BoA) announced today that it has successfully issued the first ever Euro denominated Treasury bills. Diversifying currency of Albania’s public debt and introducing a longer maturity average are the main priority in managing debt for the government, BoA statement said.

 
Five different offers from local banks out of 19, were accepted in the special bid on Thursday.

Total traded volume was EUR 45 million. Euro denominated treasury bills have a maturity of 273 days and an average yield of 5.024 percent.

At end of 2005 internal public debt of GOA reached Lek 316 BN (EUR 2.54 BN, USD 3.36 BN).
