Albania pays old debts to Italian companies

Tirana, Nov 7 (AE) – Albanian Government have accept today to pay EUR 3.38 million in old debts towards Inalca S.p.a and Amed S.r.l, both Italian companies which had claimed their rights since 1991. The debts were incurred as a result of the collapse of Albanian economy after communism fell and the state owned enterprises could not fulfill their financial dues.

Albanian finance minister, Mr. Ridvan Bode and the two companies representatives, Mr. Paolo Boni and Alberto Ghelti Zoboli, signed financial agreements. It included nullification of interests incurred by the delayed payment.

In the last years, Ministry of Finance has accepted to pay back old debts for all foreign companies. Debts amount to EUR 70 million.
