Poverty level reduced in Albania 2002-2005
Tirana, (AEnews) Oct. 17 – The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said on the International Day for Poverty Reduction that the poverty level in Albania was reduced in 2005 compared to 2002.
According to the official data of INSTAT, 18.5 per cent of people were poor in 2005, compared to 25.4 per cent in 2002. According to the same data, some 235,000 people have overcome the poverty threshold in 2005. INSTAT said that three fourth of poor people continue to live in rural areas.
