Turkish construction company ENKA visits Albania
Uncategorized Tuesday, August 1st, 2006Tirana, 31 July, (AENews) – Turkish giant ENKA Construction & Industry Co., Inc. visited Tirana last week, interested in the construction of a thermal power plant in Albania.
CEO of ENKA Mr. Sinan Tara had inquired about the possibility of building a coal thermal power plant in Albania, office of Prime Minister announces.
No details where given about any proposals. ENKA is a Turkish conglomerate of 24 companies.
ENKA’s yearly turnover is estimated at half a billion US$. Meanwhile, it is well known for the works carried out for the construction of the Bosphorus Bridge.
Up till the early 1980’s Albania was producing 2.2 million cubic meters of coal per year, however mines where closed in 1993 due to lack of economic efficiency.
