MinFin and Bank Governor to attend ministerial conferece
Uncategorized Thursday, March 16th, 2006Tirana, March 16 (AENews) – Albanian Minister of Finance Bode Ridvan and Bank of Albania Governor Ardian Fullani will attend a ministerial conference on accounting reform and institutional strengthening in South Central and South East Europe on March 16, 2006. The conference is sponsored by the World Bank, the Austrian Development Agency and the European Commission.
The conference is part of an initiative entitled the Road to Europe – Program of Accounting Reform and Institutional Strengthening (REPARIS) that aims to create a transparent policy environment and effective institutional framework for corporate reporting in South Central and South East Europe.
The Program is designed to introduce, implement, and effectively enforce the portions of the European Union’s acquis communautaire that relate to corporate accounting and auditing. This will contribute to foreign direct and portfolio investment, foster private and financial sector developments, improve the business environment and investment climate, and facilitate potential integration with the European Union.
"A high-quality corporate accounting and auditing framework is a prerequisite for private and financial sector development, mitigating the risk of financial instability, and sustainable economic growth," says Shigeo Katsu, World Bank Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia.
The ministerial conference will bring together some 120 participants, including ministers of finance, as well as experts and senior representatives from the European Commission, World Bank, European Union member states, and private and public sectors.
