Government proposes incentive for emigrants to invest in Albania

Tirana, Feb. 24 (AENews) – On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sali Berisha told Albanian Parliament about the latest initiative of his government to provide emigrants with a 3-5 year tax exemption incentive to invest in Albania.

He told Parliament that the
Ministry of Finances was preparing the legal framework to encourage emigrants’
investments in Albania
by exempting them from taxes for a period of time from 3-5 years.

By establishing the necessary
legal framework for cooperation and facilitations, emigrants and those in the
Diaspora can become a powerful busts for the rapid development of the country,
Prime Minister Berisha explained to Parliament.

"It is very important that
we create the necessary facilitations to bring and invest the emigrants’
savings and remittances", Prime Minister Berisha said.

He deemed this initiative as
necessary and as a moral obligation to all emigrants.

Emigrant remittances and
investments in Albania
are estimated at EUR 1 billion per year.
