Tirana, Jan. 12 (AENews) – KfW Bankengruppe has signed recently four agreements with the Albania government for a total of EUR 11.4 mln in low interest rate loans. The loans will provide financing for energy sector projects, family planning activities and technical assistance for further cooperation in the tourism and environment area.

Tirana, Jan. 11 (AENews) – World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors discussed Thursday a new Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) for Albania, a document which includes further lending programs of USD 196 million financed by IDA and IBRD, – World Bank officials announced today.

Tirana, Jan. 5 (AENews) – The Italian government announced it would reopen aid projects to provide Albania with low interest rate loans reaching a total of EUR 73 mln. The official Italian representatives in Tirana announced that the General Directorate of Cooperation for Development (GDCD) had approved seven such projects for the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Tirana, Jan. 4 (AENews) – The Albanian government canceled tender negotiation procedures to start negotiations for the purchase of electricity directly from six companies. The direct purchase of electricity will enable KESH to provide for country’s needs during the first quarter of 2006.
