DigitAlb Albania announces 100,000 subscribers

Tirana, August 30 (AENews) – The Albanian pay TV, DigitAlb, declared that it has reached 100,000 subscribers since it first started operating in July of 2003, according to company officials.

DigitAlb is the only digital platform in Albania, which includes a satellite package also.

It is through their satellite package that the company has been able to sell majority of its subscriptions to subscribers in the European Union, where there are large numbers of Albanian emigrants.

Company revenue for a single subscription is estimated at around 200 euro per year. Kosova has become the company’s greatest return with about 30 thousand subscriptions packages sold.

Currently, DigitAlb own a temporary digital terrestrial broadcasting license and has been lobbying in the Parliament to have a regulations draft law approved regarding this technology. DigitAlb’s main competitor is SAT+, which is a company that provides a pay-TV package aimed mainly to Albanian’s living abroad. Currently, there is no up-to-date data regarding the number of its subscribers.
