Several villages boycott elections in protest against the government

Tirana, July 4 (AENews) – Commissioners from several voting centers in the north of Albania, did not accept to withdraw their election materials and open their voting centers this morning in their protest against the government.

“Commissioners in Borje, a village on the border with Kosovo, said that they would boycott elections in protest against the government for not holding to its promise to open a border point with Kosova”, central elections commissions said.

Judicial proceedings have now been commenced against all these commissioners.
Opening of a border point with Kosova is a very sensitive issue for the inhabitants of this northeastern zone, because extremely bad road conditions have turned into an isolation factor for the entire zone.
