Last news: Both opposition and ruling party in Albania self declared winner of elections

14:20 PM – Head of the opposition and running candidate for Prime Minister Sali Berisha has declared himself winner of these elections. AENews

14:00 PM – SP candidate Luan Rama has declared that according to information received by the SP, 63 % of voters have trusted the government with their vote. AENews

13:40 PM – DP spokesman Ermal Hasimja declared that the opposition had won. According to him, high voter participation is a clear indicator of the opposition’s victory. AENews

13:30 PM – In election zone 99, located in the south of the country, several voters have claimed to be illiterate therefore requesting to be accompanied, which in turn has not been allowed by commissioner. AENews

13:13 PM – According to claims by DP spokesman Ermal Hasimja, the Greek Prime Minister Karamanlis had greeted the right wing opposition win of these elections in Albania, however, this news has not yet been confirmed by Greek sources. According to the opposition participation in these elections is over 40 %, which is much more then that of four years ago. AENews

12:41 AM – SP Spokesman Gjergj Koja spoke against several cases of campaigning during Election Day as well as regarding alleged threats made by supporters of the opposition. Reported cases of such threats reach well over a dozen, among which results the maltreatment of a SP elections commissioner. AENews

12:20 AM – The Shkodra Prosecutors office began investigations against a district chief who was accused by the Democratic Party of allegedly having removed from the final lists of voters 51 names belonging to opposition supporters. (Source: Top Channel)

12:14 AM – Head of the Central Elections Commission Ilirian Celibashi, claimed that today’s elections have had fewer problems than those conducted during the last four years. According to him, up till now two voting centers have not received their voters’ lists while 10 other ones did not receive all the voting materials. AENews

12: 05 PM – Sources say that several voting centers are suffering from lack of voting ballots due to bad distribution or disproportionate to the number of voters for that center. (Source: Vizion + TV Station)

12:02 PM – In the Polican town, the mayor of the town is reported to have physically abused an observer from the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), according to LSI officials. This is the same zone where the LSI leader is also running. AENews

11: 52 AM – Democratic Party in Vlore reported that two individuals were identified trying to use false birth certificates. (Source: TV Klan)

11:30 AM – The Central Elections Commission reported that voter participation in elections up to this moment is estimated at about 25% of total voters.
