EBRD’s investment agenda for Albania
Uncategorized Monday, June 13th, 2005Tirane, June 13 (AENews) – The energy sector is one of the essential priorities in Albania’s financial partnership and collaboration with EBRD.
One of the main projects is the construction of a new thermal energy plant in Vlora worth about EUR40 million. The rehabilitation of the energetic sector worth about EUR30 million is divided in two parts; rehabilitation of 4 hydro plants in Ulez, Shkopet, Vau i Dejes and Fierza, which will be implemented through assistance to improve the administration/management system.
The second part, worth EUR13 million, will server to help consolidate the delivery system, which includes the 220 kV line for Elbasan, 1,2 Zemblak-Korcë which ended in September 2003, the energy substation of Zemblak is currently still in its activation phase and due to end within this year.
EBRD has also financed the Italian Company ENEL with EUR2 million for the co-management of the Albanian Electro-Energetic Corporation to increase its managing capacities as a center of the Albanian energy system.
In the infrastructure sector, currently the project for the highway Elbasan-Librazhd, of 30.6 km is due to finish soon. Total EBRD loan is estimated at EUR24.5 million.
The Fier – Tepelene motorway (82 km), the total project costs are estimated at EUR90 million with EBRD having financed about EUR35 million.
The total EBRD loan portfolio for Albania during 2005 is estimated at EUR190 million.
