Gallup Organisation denies the opinion poll in Albania

Tirana, June 1 (AENews) – The US based Corp. Gallup denies the opinion poll made in Albania on its behalf by “Mjaft!” organization, exclusively for AE News

Tirana, Albania – Gallup has denied that the opinion poll carried out in Albania using it’s brand name has not been executed by this company, exclusively for AENews.

According to Gallup, the Bulgarian subject who executed the poll is an impostor claiming to be Gallup. “Mjaft!” organization, an important watch dog group Albanian NGO, which aims to protect the community rights and values, served as the contracting part in the show. The results of the opinion poll were published today, emerging with great astonishment throughout the public, media and civil society. The donors that funded the deal were the Dutch Embassy and the Great Britain Embassy.

Dear Editor,
As the July 5th Parliamentary Elections approach in Albania, we would like to inform you that The Gallup Organization and the Gallup Poll will not be conducting opinion polling.

It has come to our attention that a Bulgarian organization has conducted a survey on behalf of a Tirana based NGO named Mjaft. This Bulgarian organization is representing themselves as Gallup, however, this is patently untrue.  This is an organization that through counterfeiting seeks to prosper from the use of the world famous Gallup name, which was started in the US more than seventy years ago.  The Gallup Organization currently has litigation against the Bulgarian group to cease this counterfeiting and mis-representation.

The Gallup Organization is strongly committed to the principles of democracy, however, we have decided to not participate in pre-election or exit polling this cycle.

Should your media organization come across any election polls bearing the name Gallup Poll or Gallup, they are not sanctioned by our organization and should be questioned for authenticity.

Additionally, it is important to note that Gallup has never conducted polls for political parties or special interest groups and any poll that arises from one of these groups claiming affiliation with Gallup is not authentic.

Having conducted more than 50% of the world’s public opinion polls over the past 70 years, Gallup has a considerable wealth of knowledge in the conduct and interpretation of election surveys. We would be pleased to advise your media organization in understanding and interpreting the polls that will be released by organizations in Albania between now and election day.

Should you have any questions or desire education and support this election cycle please do not hesitate in contacting us.

Sincerely,
Christopher A. Stewart
